strace xfbdev

[Ralph Thomas]

Ok, so what does `ldd Xfbdev` say?

My only reason for thinking that they are undefined is that it looked
like it was printing "Undefined symbol: BuiltinRegister..." from your
strace. Further than that, I don't know.
