Description Mike 2005-09-15 07:25:45 UTC
Periodically, while opening a program or scrolling a window in a program the
i810 driver will die, giving "Error in I810WaitLpRing" in the Xorg logfile. The
screen goes completely black and I am not able to use Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to
force an exit from X. The system is still stable but the video is broken to the
point that only a reboot can reset the card back to its proper state.

I was able to reproduce it several times in a row but it is not now. Here is
how I was able to reproduce it. I opened a backup copy of the Xorg log file
that contains the crash information in Kate and began to scroll down file. I
only got down a few lines and the driver died.

Comment 1 Alan Hourihane 2005-09-15 07:46:39 UTC
I suggest you upgrade from 6.8.1 to 6.8.2 as there have been a few fixes for the
older i810 chipsets.
Comment 2 Mike 2005-09-15 18:04:17 UTC
Thank you for providing the insight. I will work towards that. Would it be
best to close the bug if I see the problem in 6.8.2 ro reopen it?
Comment 3 Mike 2005-09-15 18:13:50 UTC
I am sorry I missed the previous bug reports. I was, obviously, not using
proper search terms when I was researching this problem.
