Description patrick rutka 2004-07-04 08:21:44 UTC
Hi,

My config :
Pc : linux (2.6.4 to 2.6.7)
Distribution : Linux Mandrake 10 with cooker packages
Graphics carts : (geforce 2 mx with NV or Nvidia), S3 trio 64 with S3 driver,
Sisxxx with vesa
Display layout : tri-head
Tv card : Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 [card=34], chipset 878, tuner=3
X server : Xorg6.7 and Xfree4.3

When I use my Tv card with my first head (Geforce) my pc crash. I don't know
why and I test multiple things but nothing. Log doesn't help (nothing wrong
before crash...).

With my 2&3 head (without Xv extension) all works fine.

I test too my first head without Xv (with different option of Xawdecode, Xawtv,
KdeTv) it crashes. So perhaps I wrong and it's not a problem with Xv extension.
But I don't know where is the problem.

I have the same kind of crashes on my mdk 10 cooker with the 6106 nvidia driver
installed (for GF3ti200 card).

As soon as the TV card (Hauppauge winTV PCI, BT878) goes through XVideo, system
hangs (not even possible to log through telnet), although the picture and sounds
still continue. No hang problem when the output stays on X11.

For you, it's a NVidia Problem or XV ?? because I yet don't konw

I'm having this same problem. Using nvidia's closed drivers, geforce4 mx440 and
6.8.0rc2. It isn't kernel related since without v4l extension non-overlay tv
watching programs like tvtime work properly. It may be nvidia related or v4l
related. Crashes the whole system like 1/3 of the times I start xawtv. In the
meanwhile, I've just disabled v4l extension.

blaming the nvidia driver for now, but there's not nearly enough information
here to come up with a fix. a server log file would be a good start.

I'm having the same problem, with both gf4 mx440 and gf1 ddr-dvi, drivers 7174,
xorg 7. Works fine as long as I don't use overlay, but the moment I use overlay,
it hangs like 4/5 of the tries.

Please post your xorg.log and xorg.conf.
Also a backtrace would be nice.

Ok, I'll do some tests on that soon. I kind of read then forgot last time :)

Marking broken (status null/blank) bugs in xorg with no activity in a long time as fixed. Please reopen if you think it's necessary, but first do a search if a similar bug report is already filed and in a NEW/ASSIGNED state. These bugs do not currently show in most search results as they do not have any status.
