Can you tell us which locale settings (LANG environment variable, or other
LC_* variables that may be set) you're using ?

It seems definatly related.

Any progress on this?
How and where do you get all those warnings, just running xmore?
I only get a paltry:
Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion

Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.
