Hi,

I am reporting this here as the developer of KStars suggested that the problem
is probably in X.

In short, when KStars is runing it is very slow and when checking which process
is causing this it is X.

I just installed KDE 3.3.0 final and also XOrg 6.8.1 final and the problem is
still here. I also tried changing from Radeon 9600 XT (which doesn't have
hardware accel for Render) to Radeon 8500 (which should have HW accell). But
things are still not good and X still starts usinf a lot of CPU when runing KStars.

There is some suspicion that the bug is in kstars.

Whats the status of this bug using a current xorg? Perhaps some profiling of
KStars is in place?

I've also tested this application and get quite high CPU usage but those that
qualify it as a bug?

I would like to close this one as a NOTABUG. 

Anyone against?

This bug is not caused by X itself but by a poorly coded program.
